TopTenREVIEWS - Gold Award - Awarded for excellence in design, usability and feature set

The LG 55LM7600 has vibrant, realistic video and fantastic audio that give this TV a strong lead and earns it our Top Ten Reviews Gold Award. You will love this 3D TV. The refresh rate and the color quality are nothing short of dynamic. This TV is an excellent choice for any home theater. The 55-inch model represents the LG LM Series in our lineup.

The LG 55LM7600 is a passive 3D TV, the same technology used in your local multiplex, and it comes with a surplus of glasses for up to six people. This number of glasses is unmatched by any other TV in our review. The best thing about these glasses is that they are extremely affordable, so if you want to buy extra pairs for that big movie night you're planning, it won't break the bank.

The LG 3D LED TVs have a range of models that are perfect for the home theater. Depending on your budget, you can choose from affordable displays in the 42-, 47-, 55- and 65-inch classes. Each size has the clear resolution of 1080p, creating stunning images in and out of three dimensions. The TV's picture is vibrant and gorgeous with LG's LED Plus technology. Blacks are deep and colors are rich and lifelike.

As a widescreen, this LG TV has a default aspect ratio of 16:9. However, it has four other modes of aspect ratio correction that you can adjust to fit the aspect ratio of the broadcast. LG lists the 55LM7600's contrast ratio as nine million to one. This is one of the highest contrast ratios among the televisions in our review. However, the scale used to measure contrast ratio varies by manufacturer. Refresh rate, however, is a uniform measurement. At a refresh rate of 240Hz, the LG 3D TV minimizes blur with its TruMotion technology. Even if your eyes can't keep up with fast-moving sports and video games, your 3D television will.

Some 3D TVs limit your living room layout because the effect doesn't extend past a certain angle. With the LG TV, you have a wide viewing angle of 178 degrees, meaning you can arrange your couch and love seat as you please. Heed your mother's advice and don’t sit too close to the TV, however. The three-dimensional appearance works best if you are several feet away from the screen.

While you are arranging your furniture for optimum 3D movie viewing, be sure to pull out extra chairs. Because the LG 55LM7600 is a passive 3D model, 3D glasses are super affordable, meaning you can easily buy extras if you're planning a 3D movie party. They are made of durable plastic and they're lighter than active 3D glasses because they require no batteries or fancy built-in technology. They are easy to replace if they break or get lost; you don't have to worry when handing them over to young viewers. Other 3D glasses, such as those from the movie theater, may work with the TV, but LG passive 3D glasses produce the best results.

This passive 3D TV functions in the same way as 3D movies at the cinema. Two unique versions of the same image are superimposed on the screen, and each passes through one or the other of the polarized lenses of your glasses. Remove the glasses and all you'll see is the blurry mess of the two images.

Just a few years ago, 2D to 3D conversion was quite rare, featured in only one or two of the top 3D TVs. Now, it is a staple for a solid 3D competitor. The LG 55LM7600 is no exception. By selecting the 2D to 3D mode, you can view anything from sports events to classic movies in impressive, converted 3D. You can also turn the 3D feature off and watch your programming in high-definition 2D. Though the three-dimensional effect is greater when you are using a 3D source, 2D images have more depth and seem three-dimensional when you are using the conversion mode.

The 3D mode setting has several adjustment options on top of 2D conversion. You can adjust the picture size, visibility, depth, perspective, picture balance and more. These settings allow you to customize your 3D according to your environment and audience for optimum results.

The LG 3D LED TV is Energy Star qualified, so it's energy efficient. It complies with the guidelines of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy, and it uses 30 percent less energy than similar televisions. Plus it'll save on your power bill.

LG has the accessories category covered. Six pairs of passive LG Cinema 3D glasses come with your TV. If you have more than six people in your family, you can simply order additional glasses in sets of two at a very reasonable price. You can also connect to your wireless internet connection using the built-in Wi-Fi.

The television also comes with a 2.5-inch tabletop stand, a user manual and a Magic Motion remote. The Magic Motion remote is simple, with few buttons and a straightforward design. Instead of searching for the right option among hundreds on a cluttered remote, simply point the remote control at the sensor on the television and make your selection on the screen.

LG 3D LED Summary:
10/10

The passive 3D technology of the LG 3D LED TVs takes the cake and it definitely gives active 3D technology a run for its money. It is the best 3D TV on the market. Its corresponding 3D glasses are family-friendly, and its conversion mode turns everyday programming into an engaging three-dimensional experience. With cinema-quality color clarity and an excellent refresh rate, the word passive only applies to the LG 55LM7600's type of 3D. It is an active competitor in the 3D TV market, and we are impressed.
